President Bush's strategic advisor comments on Iraq war

Former Bush strategist Karl Rove admitted on Tuesday that had the truth been known about the WMD, prehaps the US may not have gone to war in Iraq. This statement is contradictory to what President Bush has been vehemently denying all this time.
These remarks were delivered during a vigorous debate in NY, regarding the legacy left behind by President Bush in the aftermath of the Iraq war. Rove argued that the dictator Saddam Hussein was supporting terrorism and had posed a grave threat to the stability of the entire region and had systematically duped the international community into thinking that he was armed with WMD.

President Zardari Backtracks

The Indian Govt. had demanded return of 21 most wanted terrorists from Pakistan. These included names like Dawood Ibrahim and Hafeez Sayid who is the head of Lashkar E Taiba.
The Indian Govt. has already declared categorically that the attacks in Mumbai was carried out by Pakistani elements. However, Pakistan refuses to hand over the individuals saying that there is no conclusive evidence linking the terrorists to Pakistan.
Meanwhile teams from FBI and Scotland Yard have arrived at Mumbai to assist with the investigations and it appears from preliminary investigations that the attacks were indeed the handiwork or Pakistani origin nationals.
The civilian government in Pakistan is cornered between hardline elements within Pakistan and mounting pressure to cooperate from US.

Recession is finally confirmed

Finally, the recession has been confirmed. The National Bureau of Economic Research has made official declaration that country has been in recession since December 2007. The NBER takes into account a number of statistics to determine when the recessions begins and ends. However, this is determined only after the fact has been established, which can be quite a long way from the time these figures start showing signs of impeding recession.
The figures are indicative of how the economy has been performing. Stock Markets have been taking a tumble and effects of recession has been slowly affecting all the sectors quite significantly.
Asia and other parts of the world are also seeing the effects of global meltdown in the credit crises.

Condolezza Rice to visit India

As a show of support and solidarity in the aftermath of terrorist attacks in Mumbai, Rice is expected to vist India on behalf of the Bush Government. Last figures estimate that atleast six US nationals were among those killed in the tragedy.

"What we are emphasizing to the Pakistani government is the need to follow the evidence wherever it leads," Rice said. "I don't want to jump to any conclusions myself on this, but I do think that this is a time for complete, absolute, total transparency and cooperation and that's what we expect."
If Pakistan does not assist India in its investigation and does not extend full cooperation, a fallout is expected.
President in waiting, Barack Obama, managed not to comment much on the issue, saying that there is only one President who will address the issue presently and that global diplomacy is needed to handle this delicately.
